About the Artist

Pavel Nikolaevich Ivlev, known by his stage name Pasha Technik (Паша Техник), was a Russian rapper, producer, and blogger, born on July 1, 1984, in Moscow. He grew up in the Lefortovo district, a challenging environment that influenced his early life and artistic expression. During his youth, Ivlev developed an interest in Russian hip-hop, particularly inspired by groups like Bad Balance. He attended various extracurricular activities, including swimming, taekwondo, and basketball, and briefly studied at a vocational school.

In 2002, Ivlev co-founded the rap group Kunteynir with MC Smeshnoi. The group was known for its provocative and experimental style, blending elements of rap with abstract and avant-garde influences. Their debut album, “Edward Scissorhands-Paper” (Эдвард Руки-ножницы-бумага), was released in 2004. Kunteynir released several more albums, including “In the Mud” (В гавно) in 2005, “Weight” (Вес) in 2006, and “Blyovburger” (Блёвбургер) in 2007. The group’s activities were halted in 2008 when Ivlev was incarcerated for drug-related charges, leading to a hiatus until 2013.

After his release, Ivlev revived Kunteynir, leading to the release of the album “Foundation” (Основа) in 2014. The group eventually disbanded in 2016, prompting Ivlev to pursue a solo career. As a solo artist, he released multiple albums, including the double album “Statistics of the Goose” (Статистика гуся) in 2017, “Ru$$ian Tre$hmvn” in 2018, and “In the Blood” (В крови) in 2020. His music often delved into themes of substance use, nationalism, and dark humor, reflecting his complex persona.

Beyond music, Ivlev explored various creative avenues. In 2018, Molot Comics published a series of comic books inspired by his life. He also launched a YouTube show titled “In Search of Easy Money” (В поисках лёгких денег) and made his acting debut in the short film “Lost in the Dark” (Затерянный в темноте). Additionally, Ivlev participated in wrestling matches and was involved in charitable events, such as performing at benefit concerts.

Ivlev’s personal life was marked by struggles with substance dependence, which he openly discussed. He faced multiple health challenges, including hospitalizations related to his substance use. On March 27, 2025, while in Phuket, Thailand, Ivlev was hospitalized with severe health complications, including pneumonia, sepsis, and multiple organ failure. Despite medical interventions, he passed away on April 4, 2025, at the age of 40.

Pasha Technik remains a significant figure in Russia’s underground hip-hop scene, remembered for his unconventional artistry and candid portrayal of his life’s complexities.
